Pennsylvania tornado history

From 1950 through 2025, 1,008 tornadoes touched Pennsylvania, according to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center, the 26th most of the 48 contiguous states and DC. The National Weather Service rated 9 of them F4/EF4 or stronger (1 F5/EF5); along their paths they killed 95 people and injured 1,585. The deadliest, on May 31, 1985, was rated F5 and killed 18 along a path through OH and PA. From 2016 to 2025, Pennsylvania averaged 24 tornadoes a year.
