December 2024 storm reports: hail, wind and tornadoes

In December 2024, 59 hail, 304 damaging-wind and 131 tornado reports were logged on 12 storm days across 20 states. The largest hail reported was 2.75″ (baseball size) in Fayette County, TX on December 24, 2024. The most hail reports came on December 28, 2024 (21). Tornadoes killed 1. Radar estimated hail of 1 inch or larger on 22 days; the widest swath, on December 2, 2024, covered 2,202 square miles.
