October 2024 storm reports: hail, wind and tornadoes

In October 2024, 106 hail, 275 damaging-wind and 54 tornado reports were logged on 18 storm days across 26 states. The largest hail reported was 1.75″ (golf ball size) in Marion County, IA on October 3, 2024. The most hail reports came on October 24, 2024 (33). Tornadoes killed 6. Radar estimated hail of 1 inch or larger on 29 days; the widest swath, on October 19, 2024, covered 585 square miles.
