In December 2023, 101 hail, 72 damaging-wind and 21 tornado reports were logged on 11 storm days across 17 states. The largest hail reported was 4.00″ (grapefruit size) in Marshall County, MS on December 9, 2023. The most hail reports came on December 9, 2023 (91). Tornadoes killed 7. Radar estimated hail of 1 inch or larger on 24 days; the widest swath, on December 9, 2023, covered 1,409 square miles.
